Mark7 rwd transit

Featured Replies

I have a mark 7 transit rwd, just put a brand new luk dual mass flywheel and clutch in and now will not go into gear while running, everything has been checked over and is correct it’s had a new clutch pedal, new slave, new master cyclinder, new release bearing but will still not go into gear while engine is running, I get all gears with engine off. The clutch pedal does build up pressure but it’s almost like it won’t release enough??
Any ideas as I’ve had gearbox on and off multiple times now

It sounds very much to me like you still have air trapped in the system. Think you need to use a pressure bleed system to make sure you have ail air out.

I have stuck a pressure bleed system on it 4 or 5 times but doesn’t seem to want to work and tried bleeding it manually

Think you need to check the part numbers of the slave and master cylinders. You may have an incorrect part, or it is of course possible that you have a faulty part.

Lets know what you find, it always helps others with similar problems.

Yeah it’s all the right parts had issues with getting the right ones but got them in the end, the transit did come in driving but since flywheel and clutch and slave etc being replaced it won’t select gear while running but if you disconnect prop then start it and put it in gear it will work

If @DaveT70 sees this thread he maybe able to offer you some help, he has a lot of knowledge on transmission systems.

Thank you very much for your help hopefully someone will know the problem, fed up with taken everything off and redoing it just for the same issue 😂

@DaveT70, can you help or have any idea on what the problem could be?

It sounds like the clutch isn't disengaging fully.

Are you sure all the correct spec parts were fitted?

If it will engage gears whilst not running but won't when running, it's always the clutch is not fully disengaging.

If you've proved it's not a slave cylinder issue or even an issue with air in the system, then it's box back off I'm afraid.

Check all the clutch parts are correct spec and properly aligned

All clutch parts and slave is all the correct parts for the vehicle I’ve just had the box off and checked everything again and it’s all perfect, clutch pedal bleeds up but doesn’t push right back to the top as it should so I can only assume air is getting into the system from somewhere

It's got to be something to do with the slave cylinder or pedal

Are you able to manually work the release fork to check correct travel?

  • Author

Yeah I am and yeah that’s all good aswell very strange I’ve replaced the slave 3 times, I’ve got a pressure bleeder on it as we speak and it holds pressure

Are you sure the Friction Plate has been installed the right way round.

  • Author

Yeah Im 100% sure the clutch plate is in the right way I’ve redone the clutch more time than I’ve had hot dinners 😂

everything is correct and I don’t see what could be causing it

Good afternoon.

Can i ask if you ever got to the bottom of this issue please? As we have excatly the same issue right now with our transit, Got genuine ford parts, Flywheel, Clutch Kit And Slave Cylinder. Our clutch pedal is rock solid about half way, We have bled it so many times, Removed and checked everything is fitted correctly but still cannot understand why it is like this unless we have failed parts.

Hi,

Can I also ask if you ever got to the bottom of this issue please? I fitted a genuine Ford Clutch, flywheel and slave cylinder and the clutch pedal is solid,

Thanks

I don't know if the OP will be back on the Forum or not, but in his absence I would repeat what I said before, are you sure the Friction Plate has been fitted the right way round.

OP last visit.....
