Strange noise.

Hi guys I have a 57 1.8tdci Mondeo titanium. Now I have been getting a strange noise coming from what seams to be driver's side of the engine only wen driving and when the speed picks up. The noise I am hearing sounds a little bit like a sander Inside my bonnet ( is the best way I can describe it) I have had it to the garage and was told to just run it till it breaks as they dunno what that noise is as it is intermittent and not constant. Not keen on that idea if am honest...

I am also getting a whistle upon acceleration so I am guessing that is air/turbo related. No loss of power that I have noticed. But I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced this noise and if so what was it?

    Well I have been advised it is the turbo that's gone..

    So the next thing is does anyone have any tutorials or vids or anything on how to change the turbo?

    I have looked on YouTube and everyone has the engine out of the car. I am not that confident. But I have been advised that it can be removed/changed without dropping the sub frame and driveshafts and engine.

    Is anyone able to advise?
