Laserline Guardian Immobiliser

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Found a fantastic highly respected Car security specialist, he recommends The Laserline Guardian Immobiliser

My question is, in fitting one of these or indeed any other after market Immobiliser would this make the car harder or easier to sell.  My guess it would be easier.

And are there any pitfalls in having an Immobiliser fitted?

Cheers,

As I used to fit this stuff for a living I thought I would have a look as I wondered if anything has changed and apart from the disarm process its just a cave man style immobilser by that I mean cutting circuits on the vehicle. I would look at Ghost immobilsers much better no key fob and no cutting run circuits on the vehicle. With the Ghost Immob when you get in your car you turn on the ignition and press a sequence of buttons such as the steering wheel buttons to control the radio which then disarms the Ghost. Look it up they are really good very stealth and can be put into a vallet mode for when your car goes in for service.

Thanks very much mate for the info.

I asked a fitting company who seem to have very good independent reviews the question:

Which immobiliser do you recommend  his response was the Laserline rather than Ghost.

I asked about the Laserline by saying I didn't like the idea of a remote key tag as surely this method could give the thief a way of using a gadget in a similar way as my remote tag.  His answer was No its the other way round, stating the Ghost is digital and the laserline is analogue with better encryption.

This has confused me, and I see most people go for the Ghost.

I've just made arrangements to have a Ghost Immobiliser fitted.   £449 and they will come to my house to do the fitting.   I chose this one as you use a PIN rather than a key.   No way anyone can break into my house and steal a PIN.

I think youll find the fitting company is being somewhat biased as digital encription is superior to analog that is just a fact that is suported everywhere you look. As you correctly said your car key can be cloaned and then used to start your car and I believe the Laserline immob pendent will be no different. Just a FYI car thives tend to use a repeater system to steal your car ( I am asuming its keyless entry ) in that a large aerial is help up to your front door / window as most people leave keys around that area the other side is placed near the car they wish to steal. The car and key comunicate over the repeter the car unlocks and started and taken. There are videos on YouTube of this although I have known about this for many years as I worked with the Police vehicle crime unit in a previous job.
