Heater Noise

Featured Replies

I have a weird noise occurring in my Feista.  It happens on two occasions.  The first time it happens when I turn on the heating.  This grinding noise occurs for a few seconds, before the heater starts blowing out air.  It doesn't sound right.  While I'm driving, the noise won't happen again, even if i turn off/on the heater multiple times.

The second time it happens when i turn off the car.  It makes the same whirring, grinding noise.  If I haven't used the heating at all during the drive, the noise never happens when I turn off the car.   Is this normal?  It is loud and I've never had this happen in any of my previous cars.  It actually sounds like damage is happening somewhere.

I should add the heater works fine, blows out hot/cold air no problem.  It is just this noise that is annoying me.

Sounds like the actuator that controls the air direction. When the car is shut down the flap moves to isolate the cabin from exterior. When you start the car and activate the HVAC the flap moves to give appropriate airflow.

Ok thanks.  I brought it to my local mechanic who serviced it today and showed him the noise.  He said it is definitely not normal and needs to be fixed.  He also said there'd be a lot of labour getting at the part as the dash has to come off.  I'm going to see if I can get this covered under warranty, as I don't fancy paying main dealer prices to get this fixed.
