Clutch knock

Featured Replies

My wife has a 2019 125bhp ST with 25000 on the clock, yesterday I drove the car and when waiting in a traffic que I could hear a knocking noise, car was in neutral and ticking over, having heard the noise a diesel duel mass flywheel made on a vectra I drove once I pressed the clutch pedal down and the noise stopped, and returned each time I released the clutch pedal, the engine was still cold at this point as only has driven 2 miles and it was not in ECO mode, I noted that when the engine was warm or up to temperature there was no noise, there is no problem with clutch slip or selecting gears or and smells, clutch fluid level is spot on the line.

Does this model have a duel mass flywheel and if it does do they cause an issue with only 25k on the clock???

anyone heard of this before?

The engine and gearbox can be a little more unrefined when cold than once fully warmed up. My current mild-hybrid seems noisier when cold than my previous regular Ecoboost Mk8, but once warmed up it transforms to near silent.

I have noticed that when the car is cold it makes no deferent noise when the clutch is operated or not,  drive it two miles and the noise appears when dipping the clutch it disappears, the car is no where near up to temperature but the other day drove it 4 or 5 miles until it was up to temperature and no noise at all, it seams that the noise where ever it is coming from only appears when partially warm, from previous experience a duel mass flywheel once it starts making a knock it does not go away no matter what the temperature of the engine.
