Front suspension arm ball joint dust cover

Featured Replies

Fiesta 1.25 , 2004 Petrol Hatchback.

MOT advisory to replace the front suspension arm ball joint dust covers.

Does anyone know the specification for these and where to buy them. I have been all over the internet and can't seem to find anything other than generic rubber covers. I can't measure for those without taking the thing apart

Thanks in anticipation

I'd imagine the covers aren't that much cheaper than a whole joint (if you can even get them on their own).

Tbh by the time you've split the ball joints to remove the covers, it's just as easy to replace the whole joint. If the dust cover has split, you will have bits of grit that will have knackered the joint anyway.

TLDR: just buy new ball joints.

As with most Ford models the dust covers come already attached to the ball joint, they are not available as a spare from ford.

Have you looked at them. On a previous car I had this put down as an advisory. I had a look and they were a bit perished / cracked but still doing the job. Three years later still the same and then I sold the car. So it would not have been worth me doing it.
