Featured Replies

Will the underground honeycomb mk7 (2013-2017). Fit my Fiesta 2012 facelift I don’t understand why it does not, say 2012-2017 the shape and everything is the exact same it’s currently the standard Aston Martin style grill my grill looks just like the 2013 Fiesta  and onwards cheers!

ST-Line Honeycomb style grille should fit fine, but an ST one will not.

Cheers why do you think it says (2013-2017) when my car a 2012 has same facelift as 2013 and upwards although I haven’t seen many 2012 fiestas with the facelift maybe that’s why

Because the model year and the registration don't always match. Ford traditionally ends production of a car in July and starts up the next year's cars after the Summer holiday. Allows the factory maintenance and other staff to change the dies on pressing plant and update robotic software as well as update any processes. When a major update occurs they clear out any parts from line bins and send them to the parts department or scrap and replace with new parts. When the workforce returns they do a few shifts training up and building a few pre-production cars. Thus 2013 model cars come off the line in late August 2012 and off to the show rooms in Time for September 2012 registration.  I hope that clears it up for you. XX12XXX reg ares should be older front ends and XX62XXX reg will be facelift or as we call them Mk7.5 cars.

Yes, changeover years are a bit of a nightmare. I recall the motoring press road testing the then new Mk 7.5 in late 2012 on 62 plates. Some late pre-facelift Mk 7s still in stock were also registered on 62 plates, just to make life interesting.

Also worth noting that a 62 plate isn't necessarily 2012. The number plate system runs from September to March the following year. In that 2 month period (Jan to 1st March 2013) it was possible to have a 62 plate.

I'm guessing for car dealers this is the quietest time of year, as a lot of people buying new cars will wait for the new reg to come out.

Indeed, 3 possible plates per calendar year to baffle us. My Mrs had a 2012 Fiesta and that was on a 61 plate.

I could only guess they aligned it for the end of the tax year as companies buy assets to lower their tax bill.

Either way it's far better than having to remember which letter of the alphabet corresponded to which year.
