MK7 instrument cluster

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Trying to resolve an issue with my sister fiesta edge 2010. The airbag light did not illuminate when turning on ignition and using forscan have eliminated a number dtc's but left with this airbag light.

so bought a 2nd hand cluster from scrapyard from a similar car being 2010 5dr same as sisters. Using forscan I downloaded the cluster info and then uploaded into the new one complete with vin number and now airbag light comes on and goes off after about 6 sec.

Problem I have is now the car is immobilised and wont crank. Put old cluster back in and car starts but no air bag light so I am certain the cluster is faulty not displaying light.

I dont quite understand why the car is immobilised when the new unit is in given I have programmed it with the old units config file.

any help would be really appreciated. She only has the one key as well.

thanks

PATS runs through the cluster, cluster is programmed to the car, keys to the cluster.

You either need to repair the faulty airbag LED on your original cluster or tow vehicle to Ford and pay to have keys re-programmed to new cluster and have mileage adjusted to original cluster.

As Dave has said the problem is that the instrument cluster is the part of the PATS security system the recognizes the key.

Ford for very obvious reasons have made it difficult for 3rd party software to be able to reprogramme the PATS system. I may be wrong and it is not something that I have ever done but it is my understanding that with the full licensed version of FORScan it is now possible to programme the transponder chips in the keys to the PATS system. That does not necessarily mean that FORScan will be able to programme the replacement IC back in to the car.

It should also be pointed out that mileage on the replacement cluster can only be adjusted upwards so your second hand unit needs to have less mileage than the original.

2010 is the cut off point, I believe, for not being able to do it via Forscan.

AND you need two keys
