Broken rear window wiper

Featured Replies

I have a Ford Fiesta, year 1999/2000.

I have been told the rear wiper is a ford only replacement, which is quite expensive.

Is there an alternative?

Try ‘Wipertech’ in Australia.Best thing to do is email them to see if they ship international.(they do say this). They have a massive range of wiper fittings.Very, very good products.

When you say rear wiper do you mean the blade, arm or motor. Blades can be obtained from any motor accessory shop.

Really? Australia?? LOL My goodness, it's a Ford Fiesta, I'm sure she has a Halfords in Yorkshire 🤣

The rear wiper isn't part of MOT.  If you don't use it, you don't need to replace it.  Otherwise, buying used from ebay or a breakers is cheapest option.

Am unsure if it's just a 'blade', even a genuine one is £12 (inc P&P) so hardly extortionate in terms of running a car...

You will find a lot of older model cars are not supported in spares.Than can be very hard to find.

Just noticed you're not in the UK, we can get spares for nearly anything here, especially for such a common (as in popular LOL) brand as Ford...

We did not get Fiesta’s here until 2005 (WP series). Then they stopped bringing them from 2017.We only now get the ST variant. If you want a Ecoboost 1.0 you have to purchase a Puma.

I bought my first Fiesta, an XR2 in 1982 LOL

Had one way back in 1991 from Hertz as a rental, picked it up in Inverness,& dropped it off in London.Fun car to drive. Then had one in 2001 again with the Zetec engine.

You can buy just the rubber refill from accessory shops, any will do and cut to length. In the past I've removed the rubber from any old blade and re used it when it's just for the rear.

Guys we need to STOP !!!!

We have responded 12 times (13 if you count this) to this very vague request for help which is clearly not of any importance to the OP (Emily) since she has not been back to the forum since the original post. It's not even posted in the correct forum so we can expect FOC admin to delete the complete thread  at anytime.

But it is a real mystery! What if poor little Emily can't see out her back window in the rain? What if the person that told her, was mistaken and she didn't need a 'new wiper' anyway, and just couldn't find the switch to turn it on? Why was her first port of call to register on a car web site, rather than just asking a bloke that knows stuff? Maybe she hopped on a plane to Australia to seek that rare elusive part out? So many questions unanswered, I worry about wee Emily now as she obviously hasn't a clue about cars, and hasn't come back to us despite a page full of helpful posts! 🤣🤣🤣

Tbf you don't know that she hasn't been back...just that she hasn't logged in again.  Can easily check for replies without logging in.  Unlike a private FB group...wait, wrong thread!
