You really need to stop fixating on it leaking again. Plenty of other stuff on your car will break well before that!

Earlier this week I tried to remove the leaking part from the old compressor. I had to scrape a lot of dirt out of there, the blow the rest out with compressed air. I let the circlip soak in plus gas overnight.

One end of the circlip broke off when I tried to remove it. I managed to get the circlip out, but the brass plug is well corroded into place.

It seems that dirt and water sit in that recess. Brass in contact with aluminium also helps cause the corrosion.

If it could be removed, it may just be an o-ring that needs to be replaced.
