Should I be worried🤷🏼‍♂️

Featured Replies

Hi All, I have just gone out and bought a focus 1.0L 125bhp 2015 earlier today when I looked through the service history which was only part history I noticed a bill for nearly £2000 it was a turbo - oil pump - vacuum pump and a load of brackets and fixing including an oil change and belt! It was all done at a Ford dealer. To be very honest it never put me off I drove it and it was performing and sounded better than other 1.0L 3 cylinder engines I have looked at. Under the bonnet looked all good including fresh anti freeze nothing looked out of place should I have bought it??? 🤷🏼‍♂️
is Ford dealership work covered for 12 months?

thank you in advance for your replies everyone’s help and advice would be much appreciated!

If you don't service these engines on time then the cambelt degrades (as its dipped in oil). The rubber from then clogs the oil pump strainer and causes oil starvation/ low oil pressure. Next thing you're paying for a replacement engine.

There's loads of posts about this issue on the forum if you have a search.

It's not the best idea buying a relatively expensive car with a partial service history (it's not exactly a 10 year old banger). Partial service history just means the previous owner didn't care about their car enough to get the oil changed once a year. If they couldn't be bothered to do that, what else couldn't they be bothered to do.

Should you have bought it? Really only you can decide that…if you’re asking the question then I’d probably take it to a mechanic to have it checked out, perhaps Ford. If the dealer did service it ever then it should have its electronic service record updated and they might be able to tell what’s been missed(if anything)

I definitely agree to these comments thank you bothhowever on one of the other receipts in the partial service history is a full service including all the serviceable items carried out by the same ford dealer just after the major engine repair costing over £600.

I usually judge a car owner by its tyres (weirdly) if there cheap so is the driver but there good Pirellis.

i guess I’m talking myself into it but for peace of mind I will have it all checked after delivery while it’s under warranty and the legal requirements of 15 day return policy.

fingers crossed I’ll phone ford Monday hopefully they’ll give some decent feedback 👍🏼

keep us informed on this one

Hey, I take exception to that! My last 2 x tires were the cheapest I could get (autogrip), however recently, I did replace with Toyo - I must have had a dizzy turn LOL 🤣

Hi John, you didn't say what the mileage is now (or I've not noticed).

On the invoice for the major work of £2000 does it say what the vehicle mileage was ?

@StephenFord, I anticipated you having a response to that! Lol

When buying nearly new it’s not a bad policy 🧐

Just avoid the ones that are "Flat at the bottom" 😉
