My Right Indicator light on my ford focus MK2 doesn't work, but Hazards lights come on and ideas?

Featured Replies

Hi, I own a Ford Focus MK2. My right indicator doesn't work. When I turn on the hazards both indicators come on so it can't be the bulbs. Any Idea what is wrong?

Had this on a fiesta , it was the body control module or G.E.M .

I think on the focus they get water ingress wich turns the terminals green .

Take it out and have a good look over it .

Check the indicator stalk too.

@Luke4efc I tried putting a 'little' WD40 on the connectors of the old indicator stalk, and I tried replacing the indicator stalk as you can get one really cheap, but still same issue.

@Scotty271 ok will check to see if it is this

The bcm (under glove box) looks like a fuse box but inside there are circuit boards with computer chips on and sometimes a load of corrosion. There are loads of plugs on the bcm and can get kicked by passengers feet.  You might be lucky And find that reseating the plug with the indicator switch wires in fixes it.  Often the pins in the plug connectors have corrosion in.

So an update, I open up the G.E.M  compartment and then right indicator started working and left stopped. I took a closer look and there is some a little moisture on the cables. I move the G.E.M compartment a little and made sure all the the fuses are plugged in tightly and both indicators started working. I'm not sure if this is temporal fix or I should check further regarding the moisture and to see if the terminals are are ok. What should I do?

Final update, I tried my indicator again in the morning, and only one was working. When I looked a little closer at the G.E.M to work out what it was, I notice the Plug which controls the indicator was loose and not fully plugged in. I push it in tightly and made sure it was tight this time, and the indicator works fine now.

Out of interest was the plug on the top or bottom of the GEM? The bottom is of course more likely to get kicked.  My brothers focus mk2.5 had a sort of flexible cover on the bottom to offer a little protection
