2015 Zetec S Auto Lights/Wipers Retrofit

Featured Replies

Can one of our members please give assistance.  I have followed the wonderful guide made by @Chris_W to install Auto Wipers and Lights.  I bought the exact same wiring loom from as Chris, stripped it and slipped it into the BCM at Pins 13 and 17.  I have enabled both the auto lights and auto wipers in the BCM with Forscan, but unlike Chris, I am getting a communication error with the rain sensor.  What am I missing or is it just not possible on my car?  Please help......

Anyone please?

Hello Shaun, what is the full part number of the sensor you have ?

  • Author

Hi,

Its F1ET-17D547-AA.  Finis 1872053.  Wiring for the sensor was stripped from a Titanium harness F1ET-14335-CBE.

Hi Shaun, been trying to find an old thread on here (still looking). I think you have the wrong sensor, but can't find the number that you need. It is the last two letters that matter if I remember correctly. If I find the info I'll update this thread.

Why not send Chris a 'PM' and see if he knows what sensor he used ?

I did last week but have had no reply from him yet.

Is your car a base model?

I believe you need a Titanium or higher BCM but then that throws issues if you haven't got x4 electric windows.

When you HAVE got auto lights and wipers and you go into configuration in BCM it always says disabled so activation is hidden somewhere.

I have put off upgrading mine because of this.

I do know that if you are a MK3.5 you need to fit a MK3.5 sensor

I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a hidden config code in the DDM, which base models don't have and that's why it won't work.

IPC firmware could be an issue too

Thanks,

This could be the issue.  Its the Zetec S model (Mk3.5).  Forscan has downloaded my IPC and that has all worked fine.  Chris_w who's guide I followed has the same car???

And his worked? Does he mention much detail about the configuration?

In the post for his guide he said to avoid any legal issues, he wouldn't be mentioning what he did in forscan.  Its probably the key part I am missing......  I am trying a different sensor later in the week.  What is weird is that I do have 12v power coming to the sensor?

And that's the issue, it's not just plug and play on a base model.

Maybe there are people on Forscan forum who have done it who can help.

If your car started life as a Zetec/S/ST-Line but with x4 windows (Conv Pack) then it probably is plug and play, but base models are a different ball game.

Ask @Rowan112 he's having the same issue getting his to work

It's not so much as the 12v +/- feed, or even the comms, it's whether you can get the comms to talk

I have spoken to Rowen112, he is still awaiting a reply on forscan.  I will try posting there and see what I get.  Thanks for reposnding, if only Chris_w does soon I may be able to get to the bottom of it all...
