New Alloys. Will these fit.

Ongoing problem with all my wheels, losing tyre pressure on all 4, having now to pump them up every 3 days. Been in garage 3 times for new TPMS etc but to no avail, now they say that the valve area is so corroded that they will need a refurb, but I would prefer to buy new wheels.

I have seen these Alloys on the Ford Website that look good value, but they state that these wheels are not compatible with my car? But I don't see why they should not fit.

New Wheels.         7.5j x 17", offset 52.5. 5x108. Centre Bore 63.4

Existing Wheels.   7j x 17", offset 52.5. 5x108. Centre Bore 63.4

The only difference I can see is the .5j. Please any thoughts on if the new wheels will fit, before I go ahead and order them.

TIA

Pete

That extra half an inch could cause rubbing issues.  Though you could fit rack limiters to compensate, as if you were fitting 18" wheels.

It may also mean you need a slightly wider tyre that standard.  Though they should accommodate the standard 215/50/17 size, just with a bit more sidewall stretch.

Thanks for your reply Tom. Without any definite answers coming foward I would be a fool not to buy at that price.  I presume rack limiters will only have to be fitted to the front? Will post back when I have them fitted with a pic or two.

Pete

... and there's me thinking that Tom has told you why you probably shouldn't buy them   (and indeed a pretty clear statement from Ford in the first place).

Isn't it strange how the same statement can be interpreted in completely opposing ways by different people.

Having said that, if you do decide to go ahead (and they do look like a bargain) I hope you don't get any problems. But is there a reason WHY they are half the price of the other alloys???

Put freshly refurbed black Volvo 17's on mine, with 215/50/17 tyres fills the arch nicely and no messing about with rubbing limiters etc

Yes, front only.  Rack limiters are fitted to the steering rack to restrict the amount of steering angle available at full lock.  Shouldn't be an issue in every day driving, but can make tight parking manoeuvres more awkward.

I wondered if if it's simply a case of supply & demand?  They're for the Kuga, which is a lot less common than a Fiesta, Focus or Mondeo.

Many Thanks to all that contributed to my post.

New 7.5j. Alloys now on car and the Garage have said that there are no problems with rubbing etc.

Does seem to be more planted to the road. which hopefully is a good thing, will keep an eye on everything in the coming weeks.

Pete.
