2005 Ford Focus Idle Air Control Valve (2.0 Duratec)

Featured Replies

Ladies and Gentlemen

Does anyone have a part number (preferably the Ford Part number) for the Idle Control valve that sits on the side of the throttle body at this inlet (highlighted).

Its for, as the title says, the 2.0 Duratec petrol engine. I believe that the engine is shared with the C-MAX and also the Mk3 Mondie. Mazda i THINK use a different TB

I'm looking at replacing mine as the engine idles funny. doesn't do anything else it shouldn't. pulls like a train, doesn't cough or ***** at lamposts, doesnt idle lumpy, it hunts, almost rhythmically. the throttlebody got cleaned during the last service and I'm lead to believe the O2 sensors all function as expected, which in turn leads me to suspect the IAC valve is either gunked or sticking. for the cost of an IAC (c£30) its not worth not replacing.

"you should ask ford"
I did. 3 weeks ago. no reply. according to the schematics it doesn't exist.

It's part of the throttle body

From your symptoms it may be the inlet swiwl flap runner rod worn letting air in .

Hi Ian, thanks for the reply

That might be from the later models which were electronic FbW iirc

the snip i have is the intake manifold for mine, as per the VIN - https://ford.7zap.com/en/car/43/1.19852,6.47294,7.24135/28/1564/15636/68382/

I'll take my chances with the IAC. if the idling fault continues, it'll going back in for further testing.

I'm one of the unfortunate ones that dependent on who you speak to, dictates what they think my car is (most recognise it as "a Focus". Ford thinks its a C-MAX, some websites think its a Mk3?)

Yes, there's no separate idle control valve in later models - e.g. mk2.5 2.0 DuratecHE with electronic throttle pedal (as per mine my2008).

Just as a follow up on this one guys (its late as I mainly forgot I posted this on here, hah)

I ended up biting the bullet and took it back to my local garage. they didn't fancy cracking the manifold to get at the PCV valve or the swirl flaps/control rod/servo unit (or actuator), to find them functioning as expected. (which is a fair enough, IMO)

As a quick tester, they replaced the throttle body and BAM fixed.

I got to limp her home with ill fitting (albeit temporary) alloys from the CC3 whilst I await the new (to me) replacements. Fortunately for me I was limited to basically crawling speed sat behind a funeral procession. Though I understand that if the procession was for one of your family members, I am sorry for your loss.
