Self diagnostic test ?

Featured Replies

Hiya I'm just after some help I have a mk 2 2010 petrol ford focus push button start so keyless entry.

Im just wondering after seeing some u tube videos how I go about doing the self diagnostic test on a push start button.

I've been having problems with the instrument cluster intermittently, but seems to be getting worse. I know what I've got to do, I have to take the instrument cluster out and resolder the joints which I roughly know what to do. But I just want to see if I can do the test as other ford focuses, u just turn the key and press the reset / set stick in and hold.

Any help I'd be grateful thanks

The test mode definitely works with keyless start system, see below courtesy of honestjohn.co.uk

Press and hold in the instrument cluster SELECT/RESET button and then depress the "Ford POWER" button once (the engine will not start but the electrics are turned on). Continuing holding in the SELECT/RESET for around 5 seconds until TEST is displayed in the odometer. The SELECT/RESET button must be released within 3 seconds of TEST being displayed to ensure the Self-Diagnostic test mode can be continued.

To scroll through the test mode data press the SELECT/RESET button once to advance each step through the data, eventually DTC data will be displayed, DTC should show 0 if no faults have been logged, otherwise a fault code of some sort will be logged if an error of some sort has been detected.

To exit Self-Diagnostic Mode press & hold SELECT/RESET for around 3 seconds.
Depress the "Ford POWER" button once to turn off the electrics.
