Fun day had thanks to NCT fail

Featured Replies

Hi all

After spending a good few quid of the focus

2no new front shocks and springs

2no front droplinks

2no rear droplinks

2no new front tyres

Full service including all fluids

She failed the NCT on the rear trailing arm bushes 🤧

So today I decided to pull out the arms and get the new bushes pressed in

I was expecting it to be a horrible job but turned out to be OK in the end

The arms are off now to a mates job for new bushes to be pressed in

I was quoted €600 +vat for the job

Nahhhhh mate I'll do myself

Usually a complete swine of a job! I've heard of the arms bending when trying to press the old bushes out! Best of luck 😉

Ohh I've heard the same mate, that's why I've sent them with my mate to his job, he's an army mechanic and has a huge workshop

Here's hoping he doesn't bend the bleeding arms

The bushes were hanging together when I took the arms out so hopefully the new ones will go in easy

Should be alright if they're pressed out properly, I think the whole arm bending myth is when people try using the press out kit from eBay. (You know the sort in a red plastic case) 👍👍

lol yes

I’ve not done focus but in the past when I have had to get this style of bush out. Make hole in middle , easy if falling apart or cut/ drill the rubber. Put hacksaw through hole. Cut through the outer metal part of bush carefully. This release the pressure and it will come out easily.

So thankfully my mate was gentle enough to get the old out and the new in, he even went beyond and repainted both arms

Top lad by anyone's standards
