Locking fuel cap for MK2?

Featured Replies

Does anywhere sell a fuel cap for the Mk2 that locks with a key?

In these times of ever rising petrol prices, it seems worth having.

I am sure the plastic flap arm lock could be easily levered open and broken if someone wanted to.

The flap and locking mechanism on my old car were all metal, compared to all plastic on the Mk2 Focus.

Thanks for any information.

I did search online first, nearly all the ones I found look to be for the Mk1.

They are all the screw-in type.

Mine is the twist-lock type similar to a bayonet fit light bulb.

There is one listed on amazon but I would steer clear of the unknown junk on there. Last thing I need is the key breaking off in the lock when I'm trying to fill up.

So where do you want to buy from if not Amazon?

Here is one, it also has a picture of the filler neck that it fits. It looks to be the 'bayonet' style you mention 👍

No, sorry I should have quoted the comment I was replying to. It was this one...

If the OP doesn't want to buy from Amazon then I'm not sure he would buy from eBay either 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for the reply. At least that one is coming from a company with a known UK address.

There's a filter in the bottom of the filler neck pipe that stops a syphon hose entering the tank .. a plastic mesh in the very end where the flexi pipe joint the tank

Not necessarily - I would NEVER buy from that insidious company, Amazon, but am a regular Ebay customer 😃

You need to be selective, as if you look past Amazon or Ebay, you may find it cheaper direct from a manufacturer or distributor.  I'm not a great fan of Amazon though, not used them for decades......
