Focus Zetec 1.8 MK2.5 (2010) indicator stalk replacement (UK) + Engine oil fill

Featured Replies

Hello all. I'm new here, and also a newish owner of a used Ford Focus MK2.5 (facelift ed.)

I would like some help with learning how I can replace the indicator stalk. I have an OEM replacement, but just have no clue about how to replace it! I have tried...

Also, I know the engine oil to get, but as I don't want to service this car yet by completely replacing the oil (I'm going to learn to service my car myself). It's very low on oil, so would it be okay for me to fill the engine with oil up to the mark on the bottom of the dipstick? It's really low and I can hear my car thirsting for oil!

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Aaron

I'm not sure if you need to remove the wheel.

But, if you don't:

Pull steering column all the way out, all the way down.

Grasp the gap hider panel from underneath the clocks and pull towards you.

Unclip upper cowl from lower cowl on column

Remove 2 screws from lower cowl and remove cowl

See if indicator stalk is on quick release clips, I think it is.

Remove connector.

Reconnect and refit in reverse order

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I thought I'd get an email notification!

Sorry if you know this already, Aaron, but just to be clear - you top up the oil to the TOP mark on the "bottom" of the dipstick. And you should do this BEFORE you drive the car again, especially if you think you can hear it 'thirsting for oil" - I dread to think what it is that you're actually hearing!

Yeah alanfp made sure to research after being made aware of my novice knowledge. Oil is filled to the top, and also my indicator is fitted and working (for a fraction of the cost of a garage repair) Very happy! 🙂🙂

Thanks all.
