20 plate focus rear brake problem

My 20 plate focus eco boost just had its 2 year service at 7,000 miles. I’ve been told the rear brake pads are 8mm but the discs are unserviceable and require replacing. Any suggestions as to why this is, maybe lack of use causing corrosion? Thanks
