Daylight running lights

Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help?

I'm fitting strip lights into the grill on my 2017 focus, and would like them to come on when the headlights come on.

Does anyone know how I would be able to wire them up to the loom please.

Cheers

The Dipped (low beam) headlights on your model are controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM) and are not fused. It would be unwise to connect any additional lights directly to the dipped beam headlight circuit encase of a fault which could cause serious damage to the BCM.

You should fit an auxiliary relay with a fused supply to a constant live supply (possibly a terminal on the main battery cable). Then connect the relay coil on to the dipped beam circuit so that the BCM is only operating the relay. Connecting in this way should also avoid the potential problem of the BCM detecting a higher current draw on the headlight circuit and indicating a 'light malfunction'

Why when the lights come on? That defeats the purpose of the subject title. You can get a drl controller which connects to the battery minus and one wire goes to the starter relay and the other one taps to the side light wire to dim to 50% when the lights are on to avoid glare but comes on 100% when the engine is started for daytime use.
