Rear View Mirror - Ball joint failed

On adjusting the rear view this morning the mirror looks to have popped out of the ball joint housing. Cant immediately see how it goes back in. Doesnt want to 'click' back in to place - any ideas on how to remedy or is this an underwarranty repair??

    Sounds like a warranty repair to me. 

    If you can post a photo of the ball socket we may be able to see some damage on it?

    yeah got it into a local ford garage this week so will get it sorted under warranty. Local garage not keen on fixing given it sits within the sensor housing at the top of the windscreen. Thanks
