I have fitted roof bars to my Focus. This required me to remove the plasic covers, cut away the foam under the removable cover, and removed the little plastic plug.

I want to follow general advice on fuel economy and take off the roof bars when not using them. I asked a local Ford dealer if I have to do anything to replace the foam that I had to cut away. Their response was no as it does not do anything, just put the removeable plastic covers back.

Does anyone have any different advice?
