    How long did you leave it on ?

    If you are lucky they might clean using Autoglym

    If above is not effective, try a gentle application of some T-Cut.

    It might just be dried into the surface if you are lucky. Get some tar remover dabbed onto a cloth and do a test area but clean it off straight away as its powerful stuff.

    I also think that's sitting above the surface rather than burnt into the lacquer.  You might find it comes off with just some firm scrubbing with a sponge/cloth (not anything abrasive!).

    Yes it was Halfords own brand in a green spray bottle .
