MK3 Engine Replacement Required! 93,000km! What?!?!

Featured Replies

2016 Ford Focus SE 1.0 Ecoboost (Canada).

In short, driving home, oil light came on.  Check oil, levels ok, park car in driveway and book appointment.  Drop it off this morning (5 kms away).  Service Mgr tells me the car requires a new engine!!  Minimum $4000 parts, $2000 labor.  The car ONLY has 93,000 kms, but conveniently for them is out of warranty.

I said, but the oil light only came on less than 10kms ago.  He tells me it was already too late.  The top of the engine has no oil, the oil pump or belt may have failed.  Sorry.

A few quick searches and I can see this problem is fairly common.  Has anyone been able to fight this?  This is insane!

Yes very common problem.

The light is "Oil Pressure" not "Oil Level" so driving the car even just for a minute or two would cause major damage to most engines.

Good luck with your fight.
