MK4 Vignale Proximity sensors sounding for no reason!

I've started to encounter a random issue with the proximity sensors on my MK4 Vignale whereby on odd occasions when I put the car into reverse to manoeuvre into a space, and I apply some wheel lock, I start to get rapid warning beeps, and the graphic on the screen indicates potential amber and red contact at multiple locations on the car, even though I am nowhere near anything.  Once I have straightened up, it goes back to normal.  I have cleaned all of the sensors, but it still occurs.

Any thoughts or suggestions as to what could be causing this?
