IDS or Foscan to update module query/advice/help haha

Featured Replies

Morning peeps,

had the engine malfunction come on my 09 1.8tdci 71k miles a while back nothing since,,

I’ve read codes had 3 at the time glow plugs, cylinder 4 injector, plus ESP

took to a garage and the cylinder one had cleared itself, glow plug still there (changing all 4 soon) and the ESP light is still on but can’t clear it or turn it off,,

the garage I took it to says it needs to be done with ford IDS software,,, I’ve got forscan and have had a Google and downloaded the AS built data for my car using VIN number from motorcraft (I think lol) I have the .ab file but was wondering if I loaded the AS built data for the ESP/ABS module if that would maybe turn the light off

what’s anyones take or advice on this ?? I assume Ford will cost a fortune for it to be plugged in just to turn light off,,,it only appeared after the malfunction came up and went into limp mode

cheers in advance peeps

I mean if I try what’s the worst that could happen 🤣

I don't think Forscan can do that on that model. MK3 onwards I believe

IDS is best bet

Cheers mate,,, I’m gunna at least plug it in and see,, I’ll compare all the serial/codes numbers with the as built and see if they different and see if it’ll reboot or write if they different

thanks though mate IDS will be the way I reckon I’m never that lucky hahaha

Working on the .AB files won't cure your issue unless you are trying to deactivate ESP, that's the only way the light will go off.

The light is on because there is a fault not a configuration issue.

Be careful with Asbuilt because you will brick the car

Forscan will be able to give you a comprehensive list of all the DTCs though
