New Focus

Featured Replies

Hello all!

My mate has 10 grand to spend on a new car. He wants a Focus. Now bearing in mind the various Powershift, Ecoboost and what not issues, which Focus should he go for ?

keep away from the 1.0 ecoboost.

I would suggest looking at diesel (ecoblue) and not the powershift gearbox.

Apologies, it seems I already asked a similar question but it was for me back then.

A new Focus is about £27,000

£10k doesn't get you much at the moment...  Would he prefer high mileage or previous write off?

Quite correct. Been looking for a small runabout for the Mrs as she starts a new job in a couple of weeks and struggling to find anything that's either not been to planet Mars or had multiple MOT failures for under 10k.

Her indoors currently mulling over the choice of a 2015 Fiesta 1.5TDI titanium x 42k for just under 11k or a Fiat 500 1.2s 19 plate with 9k on the clock for a grand less than the Fiesta 🙄

My head is banging already 🙈

No contest, Fiat 500 easily!

Fiat 500

= Ford Ka so quite a bit smaller than a Fiesta and of course FORScan doesn't work on Fiat.

Update 🙄

Were going to look at a (cough) Citreon C1 (feel) on a 16 plate. 26k all previous MOTs clean. FDSH @ £6k and zero tax.

Side note, they also have a very very nice Golf 2ltr TD GT. Same as above FDSH 63k on clock for £9k. Tax £20 and only £40 difference on insurance. Think I  might get distracted lol.

any more swearing like that, and I'm afraid you will be barred from the FOC for a week 🤣

GT trim is alright if you don't like climate control.

What year is it out of interest?  They're holding silly values atm.

It's on a 13 plate. Everything is commanding silly £ atm but there are no buses to her work location and I can't log into work site an hour early even though I'd only be in the canteen and it's a reason for her to have a car, something I've been trying to get her to do for the last 3yrs.

C1? You mean Toyota aygo  or Peugeot? 🤣🤣

Wow!  My Golf is on a '62 plate (very late Mk6)...valued at £4k without the cat N status.  No way I'd be paying £9k for a 13 plate Mk7 pfl, especially in GT spec lol.

Trouble is, even if I sold both the Focus's and the Golf, I couldn't afford a 3 year old Golf in the spec that I need.

Regarding the C1...as you live in Yorkshire, make sure to test it on some hills.  The lack of torque is reason my sister got rid of hers in the end.

Thanks for the heads up Tom, been to look at the C1 and it is mint inside and out. Its use would be to travel 4 miles a day for 3 to 5 days a week and perhaps also for my short commute if her rota doesnt fall on my work days and for the Mrs to use for tootling around.

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner.

Mate spent 13 grand in the end and got a 2017 automatic Hyundai.

It looks like this
