2014 ford focus 1.6 tdci eco nothing works

Featured Replies

Hi sorry if it sounds like I'm rambling but ill try my best to ask my question

Yesterday I plugged a 12v tyre compressor into my cigar socket and the compressor didn't work was just dead and now nothing in my car works except the radio . I'm getting immobiliser active fault along with no electrics in the car working except the radio.  no lights  no window wipers  no central locking absolutely nothing works . I've checked every fuse and apart from a f26 in the boot was blown which I changed but made no difference all were fine when I press the key fob to open the vehicle only the off side indicator flashes and the same side head and tail light comes on. I've checked all of the fuses and and checked for any sort of corrosion or blown circuts and found nothing I've checked and removed the bcm and found nothing I've removed the clock cluster and again nothing out the ordinary.  I cant plug my diagnostic in as the obd socket isn't working I cant even lock the car with the key as the central locking isn't working even by the interior button .

I've never had a problem ever in the years I've owned it and I don't think its a coincidence that it was the exact moment I plugged in the compressor in the cigar socket

Please tell me this is common and its easy to fix

Thanks for any help its appreciated

Have you checked all the fuses with a meter? Does sound like you have blown one of the larger fuses in the engine fuse box but you will have blown a smaller fuse as well.

Disconnect the negative lead from the battery.

Leave it off for 30 minutes and reconnect.

It sounds like the tyre compressor has a major fault and caused a very sudden short-circuit. This has possibly caused a voltage spike on the Canbus and locked up several modules.

The fuse for the cigar socket will have blown (was that the fuse you found blown?).

Hi thanks . I've checked every fuse with a meter in all 3 fuse boxes the only fuse that was blown was f26 in the boot and was a larger 20amp fuse with the clear window on top f27 is a similar but 30amp and that was OK the book say both them arnt used. But I changed it anyway. The only thing I haven't tested is the relays in all the fuse boxes  I even tested the large fuse looking thing on the earth to battery terminal. I had the battery disconnected over night and this morning when I connected it the horn alarm went off and I couldn't deactivate it using my key fob or putting the key in the ignition so i had to disconnect the battery again . The ignition comes on but displays immobiliser active and wont start ive tried everything in the car and the only things that work are the radio . The fan heaters and electric windows nothing else at all the cigar lighter , interior lights not working  the only lights that work  is when I press the disarm button on the fob the off side tail and front side light comes on and the same side indicator flashes

Am I missing any other fuses that arnt in the 3 fuse boxes that I can check

Would it be worth disconnecting the main ecu and have it checked over im sure I read that they might of been a recall on the ecu for this year and model

It is very probably the BCM that has gone faulty. All the things you are having problems with are controlled by the body control module.
