Fiesta electronic handbrake won’t release

Featured Replies

Hi I have a 2018 fiesta eco boost.  The car won’t start but the electronic steering lock is not releasing. Checked fuses not sure what the problem is

Why won't the car start?

It's possible there's not enough battery charge to release the EPB - in which case, it needs a charger or jump leads.

Alternatively, the EPB may not release if the immobiliser is active.  Not sure if that's the case on the Fiesta though.

Edit - Title says handbrake - post says steering lock.  Is it both stuck on?

Fiesta doesn't have EPB?????

Is the battery in the key dead or cheap?

Place the key in the front part on the centre console (below A/C) and see if ignition comes on
