Ford Focus-Mind of its own

Featured Replies

To cut a very long story short. Part exchanged my previous Focus Titanium on the Ford options scheme and took delivery of my new Focus Titanium in late November 2021. The previous car was fantastic but the new vehicle is a different story altogether. Had problems with the speed sign recognition from the beginning. For instance: I live on a housing estate where the speed limit is 20 mph and just a little way down from my house is a 20 mph sign. Frequently when I leave my house and pass the sign the speed sign recognition will show 40 mph!! Near my house there is a slip road that runs onto the main road with a speed sign of 30 mph. Sometimes when I hit this sign it sometimes shows 60 mph!! According to the dealer the speed sign recognition does not work in car parks. Strange as when I visit my local supermarket sometimes the car recognises the 5 mph sign but frequently it does'nt. On a few occasions in the supermarket car park when the speed sign has'nt been recognised I have gone into the supermarket and upon restarting the car 40 mph or 30 mph shows on the dashboard. There are numerous occasions where the car indicates random speeds that have no relevance to the signs it has just passed. Another very strange thing is that on certain roads with a 30 mph sign the vehicle will correctly recognise the sign and stay on the dashboard for 0.9 miles when there are no other signs to recognise. Easily measured using the trip computer. Also the sat nav has on 3 occasions directed me to the wrong location but advised "you have reached your final destination". Upon checking the sat nav the location and post code were correct but the dealer advised this may happen sometimes as the system can get confused...

The other area of concern is that initially the vehicle would show warning signs regarding roadworks but after the dealer completed a reset on the vehicle this function disappeared. Suddenly these warning signs have started to appear again. Occasionally they are correct but at other times they appear on the dashboard then quickly disappear. When this happens there are no roadworks and nothing showing on the sat nav...The vehicle has been back into the dealer on 4 occasions for them to investigate the problems and each time they have apparently resolved the issue(s) only for the vehicle to malfunction again almost immediately. I have even provided the dealer with photographic proof of the issues but they just seem to scratch their heads and advise they will have another attempt at resolving things. Apparently Ford technical have been involved but nothing changes. Everything has been documented on numerous e mails to the dealer and I have requested a replacement vehicle but nothing appears to happen. Initially Ford Credit advised to give the dealer the opportunity to resolve the issues but if this course of action was unsuccessful to get back in touch with themselves. Now I have gone back to Ford Credit who have proven to be a complete waste of time. I have had to wait on them responding so after 4 weeks decided to chase them to find out what was happening with the complaint. They thought they had rang me!! All the e-mails between myself and the dealer have been forwarded to Ford Credit. Now Ford Credit advise they cant get involved but will pass the details onto Ford technical and then Ford UK and I will receive a response within a week. Ford Credit advised they will follow up with myself within the week to make sure the other parties had been in touch!! Not surprisingly nobody has contacted myseIf and I have had to contact Ford credit again today and cannot get to speak to the case handler. They have advised that she will call me back today!! Has anyone else encountered anything like the above...

🤣🤣🤣🤣

I'd hate to read the long version

Have you contacted "Ford Customer Relations" ?

Tell them in writing that you are formally advising them that you are REJECTING the vehicle and that you intend to engage a solicitor unless a satisfactory agreement can be reached in the next 7 working days.
