High pitched electrical noise

Featured Replies

My Fiesta Titanium has just developed a very high pitched electronic noise, which is continuous, even when the engine is off and the car is locked. It is coming from the boot area. I've had the spare tyre out, but it's not that. Any ideas, please?

Could it be the fuel pump they usually run on a bit ?

It definitely seems to be coming from the boot area. It's constant pitch, very high. Not loud. but I couldn't drive very far with it. I've taken it to the garage now to let them sort it out. It's an audio signal, for sure, not some kind of mechanical friction. My guess is that as it is an audio signal, it has to be something to do with the alarm, but I don't even know where the alarm is on the car.

A better guess is that one of the parking sensors is malfunctioning. I hope there a separate fuse for it, and they can just disconnect it.

Solved. At some point the car had a tow bar, and the electrics box was full of water. They disconnected it and the noise stopped.

Great to find the answer nice and quick.
