Diagnostic tool for mondeo 2015

Featured Replies

I am looking for a diagnostic tool for reading the codes, not expensive , there are a lot online but i don`t know if they work with my car, anyone bought one and works ?

Generic code readers are generally a waste of time as they only read the basic DTC's.

The most professional way to do it is to use a laptop and the software 'FORScan' (it's free). It is as close as you can get to the real Ford dealer software.

You will also need a connection lead. The best to use is the new 'vLinker FS' cable that is designed to work with FORScan and will connect to your 2015 Mondeo.

Download FORScan: https://forscan.org/download.html

Thank you, i used a obd 2 adapter and gave me the code U0415, but still have no clue what is going on 🙂

https://www.troublecodes.net/ucodes/u0415/

U0415 is only a generic code saying there is a comms fault with ABS.

What are the real Ford DTC codes using FORScan ?

I used only a cheap bluetooth adapter for scanning, this is the only code i got.. Also even if i use what you suggested , i don`t know if i get something better, the app is free so that means is limited , probably i have to go to a garage ..

You are not going to make any progress with a cheap generic code reader. They will not give you the Ford DTC's

Forscan may be free but it's very good at getting dtcs from all modules and not just the pcm, abs. I find it easier and quicker to use than fords own diagnostics which I use daily at work.

Looks like i have to order that cable, thank you guys, i post my findings 🙂

So what's the fault/symptoms for you to decide to check for dtcs?

Esc service required comes on the dashbord, I'm waiting for the cable to see where exactly we have to look

This is what comes up few times a day, and when it does, the mileage indicator won't work till the lights are gone, comes and goes, so annoying 😑

ford.txtThe result are this:

There is a fault with one of the ABS sensors or the wiring/connector to one of the ABS sensors.

If you use the software FORScan then it will tell you which ABS sensor has the problem.

i used the software with the cable you shared, and this is the result, won`t tell me which sensor

Start with the front offside ABS sensor and wiring.

It's better if you can get both front wheels lifted off the ground at the same time. Use live data to monitor the ABS sensors and just rotate each wheel by hand. Check you are getting a good signal from both.

If both front seem good then move on and do the back two wheels. You will find the signal from one of the ABS is missing or corrupted. It can be the sensor or the wiring to it so check for damage cables and connectors that are corroded.

There's a code for right front.

===ABS DTC C0034:15-28===

Code: C0034 - Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor

That's what's in the txt you posted up

Thanks Ian for confirming that. I thought it was the front right but wasn't sure.

Only copied and pasted what was on the forscan  txt

I was looking at getting a diagnostic tool and stumbled across this beauty of a post. I’ve not got the time and money yet to send off my IC for repairs so would using Forscan and the cable give me car info such as odometer reading or current mpg?

also (might be silly) but does Forscan only work with Ford or would it be usable on a VW or Vauxhall? We got the EM light come on on both the other vehicles we have at home 🤦‍♀️

Forscan ONLY works on Fords and some derivatives, YES it will give you the info your looking for and more. For other vehicle you would ned Autodata or something similar.

Forscan is free download on windows and works on ALL versions

You'll need an ELM cable .. ELM327 modified usb or the newer v-linker between £20-40

Thanks for the clarification Jimpster! 👍🏻

Unofix included a link for the vlinker cable just to make life that bit easier.

as an add on if you go the route of having to change the cluster rather than repair consider ELMconfig as I've only found vids using that for the upgrade, tho try to get a cluster with lower mileage or you'll need to fork out for mileage correction
