Dreaded Ford Powershift. Anyone done a list of cars fitted with them?

Featured Replies

As per the title, my next car needs to be an automatic. Having owned Fords for the past 16 years they have been fairly reliable so looking forwards with crossed fingers
to my next purchase. Reading so many horror stories about the Powershift gearboxes with short service intervals and short life spans if neglected.

Anyone done a list of cars to avoid with the dreaded Powershift?   Am I right to assume the AWF21 is not the dreaded powershift or not a powershift at all? Cars advertised
as powershift but different gearbox codes,  its looking like a lottery on which cars have them and which do not.

Thanks Dave.

TBF, from experience, Ford are not very good with autos.

I would never buy another

Even the new MK4 Focus has issues.

Try and stick to more reliable manufacturers, preferably ones that use ZF autos, so mainly premium products. And VW;s DSGs seem to be quite reliable now too.
