Map updates, confused? I am...

Featured Replies

The Ford website: Ford SYNC & Maps Updates - Check For Updates | Ford UK tells me that my software is up to date, but "Your Maps software needs updating. Approx. 8.6GB". Checking in the car, my maps are already at version F10. Do I really need to manually update them, or are they actually up to date and Ford's system is wrong?

When you last updated your maps to F10, did you upload the log file to the Ford site to confirm the installation had completed successfully ?

It must have updated over WIFI because I didn't update it. Is F10 the latest map version?

Yes F10 is the newest. If the car did the update over wifi then the Ford site is often out of date. It will eventually catch up.

Thank you. Saved me a job.

I saw the same message on the Ford web site, so being a good boy I downloaded the 8.6G update, burnt it onto a USB stick (checking correct format etc), then plugged it in yesterday prior to driving to Bristol. I was on F10 before, and Sync is 3.4 build 21194.

Update failed immediately with 'file format error' - or similar.

So today, I checked software levels, still the same (F10), then ran interrogator, uploaded the file to Ford, which now says I am up to date.... But I'm still on F10.

So, is this 8.6G update just an update to F10?? Am I REALLY up to date?

Also confused!!!!

When on the Ford sync update website scroll down the page and expand the troubleshoot section and download the small zip file in section 1 then follow the instructions. Once connected to your car it should put the update confirmation file on your usb and just upload this back to Ford.

So, already done it. (Interrogator is the small zip file mentioned, it produces the XML file that I uploaded to Ford)
