Cluster fault

Featured Replies

So after breaking down in my 2006 focus 1.8tdci rac said it was cluster fault. Pats code 16. I've had cluster repaired and bcm checked and all is OK yet car is still a non starter system error code on dash and pas fault too. Turns over some times and others it won't. Driving me crazy trying to find a soliton as its got 10 months mot and a good car. Seems a shame to scrap it. Any help would be much appreciated

Start by checking for Ford specific DTC's. Generic code readers mostly don't show them. Your car's brain probably has a very good idea why it won't run.

Get a laptop and down load the software FORScan (it's free)

You will also need a good quality connecting lead. On your car I would use an ELM327(modified) cable.

Then you will be able to read all the DTC's and monitor live data such as fuel pressure.

FORScan: https://forscan.org/download.html

ELM327(modified): https://tunnelrat-electronics.fwscart.com/USB_Modified_with_switch_ELM327/p4541936_17045457.aspx

Thank you I have a cable on order should be here next week. A friend has tried conne ting his snap on code reader and can pick out some codes but they won't delete

When you connect Forscan once its done its connection thing, make a backup of the info and settings, then store it safely in a separate folder or on a freshly formatted stick then put it away, just incase 😉
