why are there wires in the back of the coin holder

Featured Replies

just had reason to remove the coin holder from the dash on a 2009 Fusion, (the one above the radio next to the hazard warning light switch), very surprised to find a plug fitted to the back with 2 wires going into it, any idea what these are for?

I'm fairly sure this is something to do with the Passenger airbag deactivation switch, for when a baby seat is in the front.  The switch was a dealer fit option. Page 23 in my edition of the owner's manual.

That is probably cable for the optional ESP. The switch for ESP would be placed there if I remember correctly, but most Fusion doesn't have it. You can get a phone holder adapter that fit into the coin holder too, look up sublime concept, they make stuff for fiesta, but it also fit Fusion.
