Will Ford build trimmed down ranges?

Featured Replies

Hi all

I’ve been scouring the net for any info on Focus production this year due to the obvious…Will any orders be fulfilled this year or will some stock builds that use minimum chips be the plan?

Also, there’s a whole mess of new ev’s from all manufacturers on the table for 2023…but Ford not one of them

What does everyone think?

Steve

Hi MarksSt,

yeah I may have glimpsed that, but by 2024?!

Ford can’t guarantee a delivery for vehicles… Cologne on short time, Fiesta and Focus future uncertain, Saarlouis factory fighting for survival with Valencia….

It’s all looking like a good time to lease rather than own until things have settled a bit…If they ever will!

Personally I think it's a proper ***** show all round and can't see myself replacing our Focus with another Ford in the foreseeable future.

Majority of new Fords have now gone backwards by about 10yrs due to chip shortages as have many other brands and have down specced their models considerably.

Also due to Government legislation with the idiotic demand that its Hybrid/ Electric without a sustainable charging platform anywhere in sight.

I thought I was progressing when I ordered a new focus inJanuary, just before everything went ****up. I’d sold my Fiesta for a great price and the cost to upgrade was affordable…now I’m feeling like a right muppet!

don’t know when/if new car will arrive this year, next year or be cancelled or down specced! I’m taking major grief from’er indoors! A man has to take ownership of his cockups…

I’ve ‘subscribed’ to a car from Cazoo which is a rental and includes insurance and all maintenance for 6 months….I’m now wondering if this is the future of car usage, in normal times, if you bought a car then sold  in six months you’ve lost at least the vat!  I’ll just have to see what happens with my order, but things don’t look that great for most car orders at moment…

Buying newer / latest  isn't always progress as most on here have already found out, myself included.

Have recently bought a 12 yr old Picanto with 38k on the clock for my 3 mile commute to work 4 days a week as the Mrs has started a new job so now has the Focus and the Picanto is quieter and more comfortable ride than the Focus by a long way.

Had it up on the ramps at the Brother in laws garage yesterday and the only fault he could find was a cracked exhaust bracket which he fixed there and then and hes the type that would find fault with his own shadow, lol. I said at the time that I wonder if the Focus would fair the same after 12 years and he burst out laughing and went on to say that most of the modern cars ( upto 3yrs old) are all suffering with corrosion issues more than anything.

And what is in the brochure is not necessarily what you get if you do get your car as I found out in 2019 when I bought mine.

Several things were downgraded or just not there, mostly trivial but not all, and Ford have a clause that basically says they can change anything if they want.
