Clicking from Gas Pedal

Featured Replies

Hey folks.

On the way home from a drive today, I noticed a clicking sound coming from my gas pedal. Just one click. Like an old mouse click. Usually when I take my foot off, but sometimes when its lower.  It's definitely coming from the pedal area and it happens even with the engine off.   I've looked around for debris but can't see anything Awry.   It's also not all the time. It's just a bit... Annoying.  Any ideas?  Is it just needing a bit of lubrication?

You have a Gas car ?

My grandmother used to have a gas cooker and it clicked when you pressed the button.

I meant accelerator!    I've been searching so many US forums that that terminology is in my brain

Ah !!

You have a vehicle propelled by petroleum spirit. We British commonly just refer to it as petrol 🤣

The accelerator pedal is 'fly by wire' on your model as far as I know. It is just an electronic variable switch so I'd be careful before applying lubrication. There is a spring return which might be catching and causing a click.

AHH okay that's interesting.   So is there anything to worry about?  I'm assuming it won't suddenly fall off while I'm pootling along?
