Tyre Pressure Monitoring Fault

Featured Replies

Hey folks, I'm new to the Ford owners club, I've got a 2015 fiesta van for my sins but for my needs it ticks every box. Anyway, yesterday the tpms warning came up and everytime I start up the warning light flashes on the dashboard until I start moving and then it goes solid. I checked the tyre pressures and reset the light through the dashboard (as per the you tube videos) and the light went out for about 10 minutes, then re appeared.  I called on a friend who has a solus diagnostic machine and there was 2 fault codes stored, the 1st was B1182-00 and the 2nd was B124D-02. There was no explanation of the fault codes in his scanner so it doesn't really give me any direction to start, I was just wondering if there's anyway of interrogating the codes further or if their is any further tests that I can do to pin point where the fault lies, I'm happy to spend on parts etc as I love the van but don't want to throw money away un necessarily at parts that aren't needed.

Any guidance gratefully received.

Hi Neil,

Use the software FORScan (it's free) and it will give you the full Ford DTC's and an explanation of possible cause.

Download FORScan: https://forscan.org/download.html

Are the type pressure sensors the originals ?

They generally only last 7 years

Thanks unofix, I'll order a elm327 lead and try the software, the van turned 7 years old on Monday so would be almost to the day (just my luck), I'm due a couple of tyres very shortly so would probably be a good tune to have the sensors replaced any way. If the life span is only 7 years then false economy not to get them changed. I'll start looking at what's on the market to replace them with

So an update on my TPMS issue, bit the bullet and purchased a new set of sensors from Ford today, it turned out to be cheaper going to Ford than using a factor. Got 4 sensors fitted as I didn't want to have to keep going back to have more sensors fitted and also I didn't get a specific fault code on forscan, just a 'general signal error'. The light seems to of gone out now so I'm assuming that the new sensors 'self learn' to the car, I've been on a decent drive with it and all seems good.

I think they do self-learn - I got a spare from Ebay that came equipped with a decent tyre and the TPMS monitor, popped it on the car and it all worked OK.

Thanks for that reply, I've done some local driving today and the light hasn't come back on, the real test will be on Monday when I've got a 150 mile trip to do. Hopefully that's them sorted for another few years anyway

Can I post a supplementary query? My local tyre fitter told me today that I needed to go to Ford to have a new stem fitted (not a new monitor) but all the advice seems to be anyone can fit the new stems. Apparently the stems are notorious for leaking on fords. Have I misunderstood what is needed? Fords want c.£9 for the stem and around £50 for the fitting (.5 hours labour) which doesn’t seem extortionate but why can’t my tyre fitter do the job?

because he's not very good ?
