Active Braking 2019 Focus

Featured Replies

So I was looking at a 2019 Focus but in a review they mentioned the active braking system, personally I dislike the idea and my friend has had issues with his Mercedes randomly kicking in when it shouldn't. I read it can be disabled but on the owners manual it says that it automatically turns back on when you turn it off and on again. Is there a way to permanently disable it? I think I read that with other brands if you turn esc off it disables it but I couldn't find anything saying similar for Ford.

I very much doubt it and it is not like the old City Stop, it will only happen in extreme circumstances where a collision is about to happen and the driver has done nothing about it.

I've had my car since new and mine has never braked itself. The Pre Collision Assist warning that would wake the dead has gone off a few times but there has always been a reason for it and I've usually been in the process of either moving my foot to the Brake or steering away but the warning has been quicker than I have reacted.

There have been posts on this Forum from people who say they think the car has braked itself which make me roll about laughing. Anyone who thinks the car might have braked itself has an overinflated view of their driving capabilities.

Alright thanks for clearing the confusion!
