Switched live for dash cam

Featured Replies

Okay so my dash cam has a parking mode whereby if the car is driven into etc whilst parked it will record. It automatically goes into parking mode about 10 seconds after loosing it's switched live feed them obviously switches into normal mode when it gets that feed back. The problem is no matter how I adjust the sensitivity the stupid ***** thing is always triggered by the opening and closing of the doors, so when we get in it tells me I've had 2 or 3 impacts whilst parked.

So I'm looking for a switched live that will operate when I lock and unlock the doors, that way it will switch modes before all the doors get slammed.

Anyone got any ideas ? The internal fuse box in the passenger footwell I could only find 1 switched live in the whole damn thing but its not related to the doors etc as obviously they all stay live.

I don't know this for sure but maybe it's worth looking in to. Your car radio will most probably have an aerial amplifier for either DAB or because it uses the heated rear screen as the aerial. Now I assume like most Fords these days the radio stays on after the ignition is turned off, and stays on until you open the drivers door. So if you find the supply to the aerial amplifier it would be live until you open the drivers door. The dashcam must have a delay of at least 10 seconds after it looses the live supply before it switches to parking mode, so that should give you time to get out and lock up.

Of course if it is getting triggered when you open the door none of this is going to help you.

In my Mondeo, I piggyback off the fuse for the cigarette lighter as my switched Live, it stays live for about 15 minutes after opening and closing the door. Does the Focus not do this?

To test you could plug something in, shut the doors and see if it goes off after 10-15 mins, but you need to be able to see it through the window as unlocking the car or opening a door will switch it back on again. (might be different on the Focus though)

Not sure I'll try it....ref opening the door I need it to go live either immediately on unlocking the car or opening the door.....opening the door generally isn't the problem it's closing the doors when you get in ....I'm just about able to do it because I'm not stupid but the Mrs manages to make the dash cam think it's been in a motorway pile up when she shuts the doors lol

No, it's when the doors are closed.....opening seems fine
