Zetec S Tyre Size

Featured Replies

Im about to change my tyres on my MK2 1.8 3 door Zetec S. I have had the car years but they seem to keep wearing on the inside fairly quickly and just took it for granted they are the correct tyres. The tyres on mine are 225/40 R18 . If anyone has a similar car would they mind checking if thats the correct tyre as i always thought the geometry on the car was just rubbish as i kept getting the tracking done.

Thanks folks.

What size does it say they should be on the label on the drivers door post?

When did you last have the tracking/wheel alignment done?

The zetec s standard is 17"  bit there was some 18". Tyres wearing out on the inner edge is due to under inflation, ball joints or bad tracking.

If it's the fronts only, the wishbone bushes are probably knackered.  They allow the wheel to turn outwards slightly when travelling forward, scuffing the inner edges off.

Thanks everyone. Been having the tracking done every 6 months or so but guessing it might be a bush thats gone. Seems to happen on all 4 tyres not just front two.
