Regen (again)

Featured Replies

I have a 2.0 diesel focus. Euro 5. 2013. I'm struggling to understand completing a dpf regen when on the move. I can do a regaen using forscan. All good apart from the noise, pollution at home, reduction in mpg and a uncomfortable feeling listening to my car doing 2700 rpm on the drive going nowhere.
However sometimes the car will start running rough. Like its running rich. This i guess is the start of the regen process. This is fine but if i'm 2 mins from home what should i do? I have heard/read that you should let the process continue. Is that by letting the engine tickover until the fans stop or carry on driving.

Best to carry on driving, preferable in a lower gear than you would normally.

As long as your next trip is going to be a long one, I'd just shut it off and fail the regen.  It'll start again next time you go out.

If you've only got short journeys coming up, then it would be best to keep driving, but you may need 10 minutes or more which isn't likely to be convenient.
