Ford Focus 06 1.6 petrol manual. I was driving & went to change gear as normal but when I did it felt like a pull as if when you take your foot off the clutch very quickly so I tried the next gear & it did the same changed gear but a big pull with it. A bunch of lights lit up on the dash & steering went hard so basically it had cut out so I pulled over turned the car off waited a minute started it up again & it's been fine since. Just wondering what could this be as I don't want it happening again?

Sounds that maybe the symptoms of an 'instrument cluster' time bomb that ford installed in 1000s of cars. Blame the dolphins! LOL To be 'green', Ford left out lead from electrical solder, which worked great for while, but over time, the solder then dries out (lead was there for a reason!). As it dries out, it starts to cause all sorts of electrical gremlins, including cutting out, flashing random lights etc etc. It is fixable by having the cluster res oldered with the good stuff, and on Ebay, if you search for Focus instrument cluster repairs, there is a whole industry based around repairing Ford's built in fault,,,

I've said before, but that dolphin Ford wanted to save lived to a ripe old age, until it was run over by a very fast V8 powered speed boat 🤣

Get codes read, correctly, if you see lots of "lost communications with....." issues and "THEFT DETECTED" suspect solder joints on Instrument cluster
