I have what i believe is a storage compartment on top of my dash, i have pushed and proded in various areas and it will not open. Hopefully it not an airbag and dont want to get too rough incase it goes off. Ideas please.

    Yes it's a storage compartment, only fitted to higher spec vehicles.

    Pushing the centre of the 'line' at the front should release it.  But the clips are rubbish tbh!  Previous owner may have glued it shut if it doesn't move at all.

    Had the opposite problem on mine...

    Found one, roadtrip to Halifax, if he gets it out in one peice.

    £20.00 i bit his hand off, and he has a couple of focus's on so may find some other bits.

    You must be very lucky.

    Ford drastically reduced the availability of the MK2/MK2.5 dasboard storage compartment about 10 Years ago. Ford stopped selling spare lids of the storage compartment and reduced the available colors to only one color (the black MK2.5 version which currently costs approximately €250,-). 

    Even a used one in good condition will easily sell for over €100,-.

    Fortunately we throw away plenty of Mk2's over here, keeping used prices more reasonable...  Used top gloveboxes can easily be had for around £50 on ebay UK.

    Currently sat in a beer garden in Halifax, after picking up storage unit, perfect it even opens properly. Didnt tell the guy what they go for. Now to find a drivers wing mirror for my 2007 ghia.

    The ex used to say if i fell in a bucket of **** i'd come out smelling of roses.
