Ford Focus mk3 loses gears

Featured Replies

Hello, im new there.

I am the owner of a Ford Focus MK3 2013. 2.0 160km TI-VICT automatic.

Once, while driving, I had a situation that the gearbox turned into the N position, even though it was on D (after adding gas, the car behaved like N). Since then, I have had such problems at random moments (no matter if it is wet, dry, cold or warm, but the problem only occurs when starting and not driving).

When I want to fire them for the first time, it will start without a problem. The check engine lights up and the car on D or R behaves as if it was on N. After switching to the Sport mode, it does not highlight this mode on the computer. Then I have to turn off the car (after that the car will not start for 2-3 minutes - I can only start the ignition), but when I turn on the ignition, there are some sounds coming from the left side (from the driver). After waiting for these 2-3 minutes, the car will start and drive normally.

However, now this problem has arisen while driving. I'm driving, suddenly the Check Engine lights up and the car in D mode, the revs go up, but the car does not go forward. During such a problem, the Sport mode does not light up at all on the computer.

Sorry for my English, but unfortunately for me nobody can answer me what it is.

Sounds like a potential issue with the TCM module that does the gear changes for you. Or wiring issues , someone on here had wiring broken near the TCM connector. You need someone to put a diagnostic tester on your car and see what dtcs ( diagnostic trouble codes) show up. That may point you in the direction of the fault.

Thank you for answer me.

I have EBD connected with my phone (I know it's not very professional). But in this app I have that codes:

P018C
U0402
B1215
P1594
B123A
U0159
U3003

My mechanic says that changing the oil in the gearbox should help, but if the car drives well, it changes gears without jerking and everything looks fine (if the error does not occur, if it does occur, sometimes it happened that if he still saw the "D" mode "he jerked when shifting gears) will such a procedure help?

„there are some sounds coming from the left side” about this Now these sounds can appear even when I open the door, when the car receives electricity.
