Drivers window doesn't go up or down

Hi,

I have a 04 Focus where the drivers door electric window doesn't work.  I have checked the fuse and this is ok. The switch appears to work as I get voltage at the motor connector when I press the up/down button so this also appears to rule out a wiring issue.  This seems therefore to point to the motor but a resistance check on the motor winding indicates 4 - 6 ohms so hardly a short and not open circuit either.

It makes no attempt to budge so not sure of any other ideas?

Coincidentally the passengers window works...

Thanks

If the window is 'stuck' then the motor will go straight in to stall current limit and the widow control module will turn off the motor.

If you have access to the window motor terminals you could try running a couple of wires direct from the battery to the motor for a test --- BUT, make sure you install  20 Amp fuse in the positive lead  because you don't want to burn the motor out if the window is unable to move.

Hello Cos, I know you read my suggestion about 10 hours ago, and can only assume you didn't consider my advice to be of any help.

Not at all.  I'm mulling it over and trying to find the appropriate time to pull the door apart again in order to test...
