Mk8 replacement steering column

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, just coming on here in the hope of some advice. Currently have a Fiesta ST Line X 140PS and just turned 3 years old last month, 16k miles.

Had been hearing a distinct scraping noise when turning full lock at low speeds, normally when parking up etc.

Took to Gates dealership where I bought the vehicle, they couldn't find anything wrong, but did adjust one of the brake disc covers, and then asked me to monitor it.

Sound continued, ford had it back in again on Friday, rang me in the afternoon to tell me they want to replace the entire steering column!

After doing some research, it seems unfortunately that this is a fairly common problem, but on a 3 year old car??

What could have caused this to happen so soon? Doesn't make me feel particularly confident about the rest of the car?

Any advice appreciated!!
