Mk1 Ford Focus Undecided Project.

Hi, I had bought a Ford Focus Flight 1.6 3dr about 4-5 months ago and had been sat on my driveway since. This week I had finally had a go at removing the interior.

Turns out the car has really bad frame rust. I had bought this car for £400 off a neighbour that owned since new. Full service history and apparently had frame treated for rust to pass MOT

I had first saw some rust around the arches and where the seatbelts are secured down. So I thought it’s not too bad. Till I tracked the rust straight to the frame that secures the rear bumper on… just crumbled off.

Been to local body shop, told him and showed him the pictures. He gave me Hydrate-80 to use on interior and arches etc… Then I’m hoping he’d deal with the frame but rust always comes back somehow…

Then I’m hoping to at least get bucket seats installed then get it MOTd and go from there.

I know people will say it’s not worth it, I’m wasting my time and money etc…. But I saw that old whale and took the opportunity to save it from being a scrap whale.

Now, what you need to do is try and get some terrible life threatening illness, or maybe some other life trauma, then, get a loved one to write into 'Car SOS' for submission. Then when Tim & Fuzz have worked their magic (with a £60k budget and full mechanical crew), act dreadfully surprised at the reveal (tears help), then drive off into the sunset with a mint car! 🤣

I wish we could put a PSA to anyone who owns a mk1 focus to remove the wheel arch liners as they are literally the major causes of rust and build up of mud/grit.

I can fill a 50x50 planter with the mud tucked up there. The liner was bursting to open.
